Turner, J.M.W. (1775-1851), 'Procris and Cephalus', Etching & Mezzotint, 1812.

'Procris and Cephalus', Etching & Mezzotint, 1812.

Drawn and etched by J.M.W. Turner, engraved by G. Clint. From the 'Liber Studiorum'. Printed on wove paper.

Ruskin regarded this as one of the best in the 'Liber' referring to it in many of his lectures and writings, including Modern Painters and Elements of Drawing. Due to the subject acquiring such an iconic status it is hardly surprising that both Lupton and Short included it in their copies of the 'Liber' subjects.
